Perfect? Complete? Lacking nothing? Are those things even possible? The Bible says they are but they are obtained through developing something we don't tend to like very much ... patience.

What does it mean to let patience have its perfect work in you? Could it be that some of the things we consider delays, aren't just happening to us, but they are actually happening for us?

That's what this week's episode is about—the burning of belonging. Although most of us have been able to relate to the sense of not belonging at some point in our lives,  this episode speaks most specifically to those who could be loosely termed  "creatives and contemplatives" —a group that has been disproportionately misunderstood and, often, misjudged, by the larger Body of Christ. But it's time for that to change and time for the WHOLE Body to arise and shine—to burn brightly—for the glory of our King!

There is no greater thing ..."

As I sat down to summarized this episode, immediately the words of this old-ish song by Graham Kendrick came to mind:

"You're my all, You're the best, You're my joy, my righteousness. And I love You, Lord ...

"Now my heart's desire is to know You more. To be found in You, and be known as Yours."

That about sums it up. I have no greater desire. There is nothing I value more. And THAT is what this week's episode is all about—in both the devotional content being shared, and in the return to the heart of the presence driven life. Really, it is a reminder of why this podcast exists in the first place.

So, yes, this episode still takes another Few Minutes in Philippians  but this time as the Spirit leads rather than following the order of the book or any of my thoughts or plans. While we will no longer be releasing a chapter a week of the book (at least not at this time), if you do want to read the rest of it, it is, of course, still available on Amazon in both paperback and kindle versions.

But above all … lean into Him. “Knowing You, Jesus, knowing You, there is no greater thing.” Now, always forever, knowing Him is the greatest treasure of all❤️

The challenges and losses we face on "this side" are all too real. But so is the reality of His eternal Kingdom. "For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is going to be revealed to us" (Romans 8:18).

Join us today for a few short thoughts on how maintaining an eternal perspective might help us release more of His presence into the confines of our current (but temporary) challenges.

A Personal Testimony Regarding Trauma]]>Is the blood of Jesus sufficient for all healing? Of course, His blood is absolutely sufficient for EVERY need—including healing and restoration from all kinds of trauma no matter how deep. However, laying hold of what He purchased and appropriating it into every area of life is, in fact, a process. Victory and process are not mutually exclusive.

This is a deeply personal—and very vulnerable—episode. I hadn’t planned on recording it and did so quite spontaneously in response to some recent online “chatter.” Had I spent a bit more time thinking through what I wanted to share, I probably would have said some things differently. But it is also quite likely that if  I had I waited, I wouldn’t have said anything at all! I knew the Lord was nudging me to follow through in that moment—(presence driven!) so that’s what I did. 

My prayer is that sharing my story might bring encouragement to those who absolutely believe Jesus purchased their FULL healing but are still in varying stages of walking it out in every area of their day-to-day lives.

We may call the prayer in Matthew 6 "The Lord's Prayer" but that is not necessarily an accurate description. It is a model prayer. Really, John 17 is the Lord's prayer--it is the prayer Jesus actually prayed for Himself and for us. 

About 18 years ago I had an encounter with the Lord that gave me a deeper glimpse into His heart for unity. That encounter ultimately led to  writing a book called, "The Key to His Heart." Although the book was written more than a decade ago, parts of it are more relevant for today than when it was written. Corporate intercession in particular is such a passion of mine and an area where there is a lot of teaching available on specific models of prayer but very little on the heart posture and primary purpose of corporate prayer. Although those who regularly participate in corporate times of prayer may resonate more, ALL believers are called to intercede on some level and I believe there are some simple tips and perspectives that will be useful for anyone. When the Church learns to pray in agreement--first with Him and then with each other--nothing will be impossible!

Lists? Obligation? Maybe a little dismay because you don't feel like you are spending enough time praying, or that you have a sense you're just not getting it "right"? 

I've believed for a long time that we need a major paradigm shift when it comes to the whole topic of prayer. What if, instead, the first thing that came to mind when you think about prayer is the JOY of being with Jesus? What if it wasn't drudgery or obligation, or even necessity, but DELIGHT? That's what we're going to talk about in this episode - the joy, the privilege, and the beauty of presence driven prayer. You'll never look at prayer the same again!  In a few weeks we'll have a part two and will consider what corporate prayer might look like from a presence-driven perspective. 

(And for those observant peeps .... Yes! I left out one of the last lines of the Lord's prayer. And no, it wasn't on purpose. Just got caught up in the moment and clearly didn't have notes. Oh well!)

When Kezia joined us last time, we touched briefly on the incredibly painful impact of abuse in the Church. While this is an issue with tons of layers and complexity,  it is also one that is begging for honest voices seeking redemption and restorative justice. When the Church itself is the source of the trauma and heartbreak that causes disconnect from God and each other, we often want to cover the issue rather than bring it into the light. We opt to preserve the narrative over revealing the truth - sometimes genuinely believing that is what we need to do to protect the church. But if we want true healing in the Body of Christ, and if we want to create a safe environment for ALL to connect with His heart, we need to deal honestly with the dark issues lurking in our own closets.  I hope you'll join us as we begin the conversation. 

Just to share again a bit about Kezia … she is a lover of God's presence, a seeker of His heart, and a voice for restorative justice. She is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked extensively with those impacted by complex trauma, including survivors of sex trafficking. She is the director of Flourish International  a nonprofit that equips churches and families in trauma-informed care for survivors of sexual exploitation. Her open heart to His Spirit, along with her  clinical knowledge and experience, give her unique insights into the restorative process of establishing authentic and lasting connection with Jesus and each other.

I believe doing so is foundational to any discussion about living a presence driven life. But how do we do that? Where do we start? 

In this episode that is exactly what we'll discuss. How do we recognize His presence, respond to His presence, and, perhaps most importantly, yield to His presence? How do we invite Him with our actions and not just our words? There is no one-size-fits-all answer to these questions but we can start by intentionally cultivating awareness and asking better questions!
